Statement of Purpose The primary purpose of P.E.A.C.E.® is to provide exciting and enjoyable educational opportunities, outdoor experiences, publications, and conservation services that focus on nature, culture, human interactions, and the interrelationships between people and the environment. It is hoped that by helping people to better understand, appreciate, and experience the Earth and other cultures, as well as their connections with the natural and human environments, they will care more deeply for — and take responsible action to protect, preserve, and restore — the well-being of our planet. The Center's activities are based on a belief that promoting knowledge and positive social and environmental values will build a stronger life ethic to guide peoples' conduct as it affects their own lives and the world around them.
Outreach Each year the efforts of P.E.A.C.E.® range throughout North America and beyond, reaching some 15,000 children annually, as well as teachers, naturalists, environmental educators, families, camp counselors, college students, and others. These services include performances, conference presentations, classroom visits, programs at libraries and nature centers, teacher workshops, field trips, nature walks, canoe programs, college courses, curriculum development and land conservation projects. Millions of people are reached through books and other media, including public television, local and national public radio, magazine articles and newspaper articles.
Financial Statement P.E.A.C.E.® is solely self-supporting through funds received from educational services, grants, conservation activities, publications and contributions.
